The Fishmarket Restaurant / €€ – €€€

Mallaig is a nice little fishing village whose tranquillity is occasionally disturbed. This is always the case when the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William stops here at the end of the journey and gives those travelling back the opportunity to explore the village. So we advise booking seats early, especially at lunchtime. Following the tradition of the place, this restaurant has good sources of supply. The décor is very simple and not necessarily a highlight, although the large glass surfaces provide a lot of light and often offer an interesting view of the harbour, making the overall impression quite acceptable. We may judge the kitchen performance similarly. They don't strive for high consecration here and so the menu is rather simple. On this basis, however, the cooking is solid, achieving a respectable result, especially for lunchtime.
