There is an upper Firstalm and a lower Firstalm - please do not confuse them. While the lower Firstalm is still connected to the Spitzingsee ski area and thus a popular resting place for skiers, the upper Firstalm has lost this connection due to the dismantling of the corresponding lift towards the end of the 1990s. From our point of view, this is no harm. So this hut is now the preferred destination of families, ski tourers and the hikers (with snowshoes in winter). You can park your car (if there is room) at the private car park Spitzingsattel and directly opposite would be the entrance to the hiking trail up to the alp. In a mountain guide, the tour was given as 1.5 hours - at least the stretch up to the alp can be done in 45 - 60 minutes. It is not a pompous alp, but an honest inn. Much has been allowed to remain as it is or has always been, and this is what makes it so charming. Many battered corners and edges bear witness to the many visitors and probably also to the one or other party up here. The menu is clear and the cooking is solid - so there should be something for every taste. You order at the counter and pay at the same time, you can take your drinks with you and the food is brought to you. Easy going - new German. Especially in winter, this alpine pasture does not necessarily have to be the end point of the excursion. In particular, ski tourers and those who have their snowshoes with them can venture the further ascent to the Brecherspitze. Those who want to go even higher should have profound mountain knowledge and surefootedness. We think that this idyll of not having to share such an area with the "alpines" does not exist so often. Back at the Firstalm, it tastes especially good there. But even for those who are content with less because of the children, this hut still has a nice attraction in store. You can rent a toboggan for a reasonable amount (you can also bring your own) and off you go. Lighting ensures that you can venture down this run even after dark, and you can also rent headlamps. If you want to take part in the moonlight tobogganing, you should check the dates on the in-house homepage.

In relation to the normal opening hours, this offer is probably more aimed at larger groups who have something to celebrate. The upper Firstalm is certainly not a bad place for this - whether you have to invite 200 people is up to you - also because of the atmosphere a little less could be more - but the capacity of the hut would allow it. Furthermore, there would be the possibility to spend the night here - also in the dormitory.
